ZZ Top were forced to delay the start of their summer tour after it was revealed that bassist Dusty Hill will have to undergo surgery for kidney stones. According to a press release, a routine examination discovered a pair of kidney stones and Hills doctor advised him that they should be removed as soon as possible. The surgery will take place later this week, and he is expected to make a full recovery after two weeks of rest, however the band was forced to postpone the first weeks worth of shows on its summer tour.
Among those dates would be Saturday July 26 th at Washington County Fair. The fair released a statement, that they are working to identify and announce a new band for the date in the next 24-48 hours. Sandy Lang, Executive Director/Fair Manager said:
"Although we are very disappointed that this much-anticipated show will not go on as planned, we understand that Mr. Hill's medical condition is something that must take priority. We are working nonstop to secure a new headliner, and are confident that we'll have some great news to announce in the very near future.
