Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl gave a few details on his upcoming documentary and rumors of an accompanying album. He said: "We released a teaser trailer, there may be an album that accompanies it. I recorded a lot of songs with a lot of people in the past couple months. There used to be a recording studio called Sound City that was in the San Fernando Valley. Nirvana recorded there in 1991. It was this really beautiful dump in the middle of a warehouse district. A lot of great records were made there. Fleetwood Mac made records there; Neil Young made records there. Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Dio, Ratt, Pat Benatar, Rick Springfield, Rage Against the Machine did their first record there, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Evel Knievel, Charles Manson recorded there, Barry White, Johnny Cash. So I interview them to tell the history of the studio, but then I invite them back to record with me, and we make a record." There's no release date for either the "SoundCity" film or soundtrack. That's not the only project on Grohl's plate. There's also the matter of the Foos' follow-up to "Wasting Light". Dave joked: "We have an idea. It's kind of a really big idea. We're going to record it in space. To tape. An analog moonshot." More

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following statement to clarify media reports that he has endorsed Republican Rick Santorum for president: "Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed any presidential candidate. What I did say was that I hope to see a Republican in the White House. I've seen good qualities in all the candidates but by no means have made my choice yet. I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daughter, but I never used the word 'endorse.'" More
The Quietus recently conducted an interview with SLAYER bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. Asked for his thoughts on Metallica’s "Lulu" project and what would [SLAYER's] equivalent be, if he had to go and make it, and he had to choose an artist to make it with who was completely mismatched, who would it be and why, Tom responded “Erm… I can't speak for the whole band, but it would require a lot of thought, and I don't see us doing anything like that. I can't even conceive of the idea of doing something like that, you know? Lou Reed of all people, you know? He's just so avant garde, so out there, so musically different. He was his own thing. He was his own mould. And for them to try to… I don't know, when I found out about that, I thought that it was a little too much.” More
