From a Dangerous Mind From a Dangerous Mind

So, I Started A Website Posted March 31, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

If you're a regular reader of From The Dangerous Mind, you know by now that I'm a Geek.  But until recently there was one thing I had never done that most Geeks have.  And that's start my own website.

Well, last weekend that was finally checked off the list.

I should back up a little though.  It's not really a website.  At least not yet.  It will eventually be, when there's enough content added.  At that point I'll bite the bullet and purchase a domain name.  For now it's just a blog located at Wordpress.com.

It's called The Lazy Tourist, a place where people to go who don't want to travel, can't travel or are planning a trip and want information.

If you want to check it out, the web address is below.  But be warned, there's not much there yet.  Keep checking back though as the website grows.

My favorite sitcom is The Big Bang Theory.  It's on CBS Monday night at 8:30.  If you haven't seen it yet, you should.  It's very geeky but you don't have to be one to get the humor.

See for yourself below.  Here are two "best of videos courtesy of Youtube user zaboo23

Enjoy!

Sci Fi Starts and Stops Posted March 26, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

Tonight one of my favorite new shows had it's "mid-season" finale.  (that just means there's a shorter gap than there would be between two actual seasons.)

The program I'm referring to is Caprica.  Here's the synopsis from Wikipedia.

Caprica is an American science fiction drama airing on Syfy in the fictional Battlestar Galactica universe. Set 58 years before the events seen in Battlestar Galactica, Caprica tells the story of how Colonial humanity first created the robotic cylons, who would later plot to destroy humans in retaliation for their enslavement.

It's sad that Caprica is going away for several months but next week another one of my favorite shows returns from it's hiatus.

Stargate Universe follows the adventures of a present-day, multinational, exploration team unable to return to Earth after an evacuation to the Ancient spaceship Destiny, which is traveling in a distant corner of the universe.

It's the latest edition in the Stargate franchise that is based on the original 1994 film and has so far spawned 4 different series.

On a personal note this is the first of those Stargate incarnations that I've personally been interested in and watched.

So, what's the point of this blog?  Well, it's to maybe introduce you to some really cool television and just because I love talking, and writing about it.

Let me know what you think.

TVersity Posted March 25, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

So, it's day 3 with the Playstation 3 and last night I discovered a really cool FREE program called TVersity.  http://www.tversity.com/.  In a nutshell it's a software package that allows a personal computer to stream content to devices, such as the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii.

Here's more about it via a Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVersity

Basically whatever you have on your computer, you can send to your gaming system.  I've even read you can network it with a Directv box.  Videos, music, pictures, and content you get from sites like Youtube and Hulu.  Plus my PS3 even gives you the option to download Internet videos.

If you have any of the above mentioned devices this is one piece of software you don't want to live without.

Oh, one last thing.  When you download, choose the pro/paid version.  It'll send you a link to your e-mail and open up a Paypal window but guess what, you can download it without paying the $40.  Just exit out of Paypal!

Check out the video below.

The 43 Year Old Virgin Gamer Posted March 23, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

Hi, I'm Dave, a self-described Geek and I just bought my first gaming system.  Yes, really!  You're probably thinking to yourself, hey, aren't pretty much all geeks gamers?  The answer is no, especially when this guy has the worst hand-eye coordination ever.

Let's go back a couple months.  After I bought my new HD TV, which I blogged about I set about in trying to find the best blu-ray player.  After doing hours and hours of research, the answer came back that the PS3 is far above any other.  The trouble is, right now they are really hard to find, for some weird reason.  Many trips to Walmart later a few of the units finally came in and I bought one!

Below are the pictures I took while doing the un-boxing.  Keep checking back for further updates in my adventures of being a 43 Year Old Virgin Gamer.

Mission Accomplished
