Rogue: Voodoo Doughnut Pretzel, Raspberry & Chocolate Ale

by Lucy Black

Mmmmmm... chocolate.

"You can really taste the different notes," my boyfriend says.

You just said "notes" while describing a beer you snob, I shoot back.

While Rogue's Voodoo bottles closely resemble that of a certain stomach aid liquid, do not be fooled. Each year these bottles show up with the most interesting flavor combinations.

Last night we broke into one of the two releases from the Voodoo line that I happened to pick up this year.

Meet Rogue's Voodoo Doughnut: Pretzel, Raspberry & Chocolate Ale

This beer had a very dark, medium bodied pour with a nice thin head of foam that lingered in the glass just long enough.

I found the ale to be rich in flavor with heavy chocolate flavors shining through and a nice contrast to the bitterness of the raspberry. I'm not really sure how the pretzel portion of the flavors comes through (if at all).

Overall I found this beer a good one to substitute for dessert and even better when shared with friends. The flavor is much too rich to take down a whole bottle on your own, unless you love getting serious gut rot.

I gif this beer:
